July news from Clymer & Kurtz
There’s just something about a hot summer day to start us dreaming about our next trip, never mind that it’s only been a couple weeks since we returned from a family jaunt to NYC and Maine.
If you’re a road dreamer like we are, it might be time to dig out our song “Ten-Inch Drive,” which you can listen to on Spotify and/or YouTube. (Please remember to follow us and/or subscribe!) And if you’re feeling a bit warm these days, don’t miss the snow remnants in the song’s 2021 music video.
The past six weeks have been primarily a growing season for us, and not only in the garden. With a handful – make that two handfuls – of new songs on the table, we’ve been chiseling and fine-tuning day by day, and turning over possible approaches to a recording project. Do we aim for a bigger sound like we did on Keep Me Around, or return to simple, no-frills arrangements as we did for Here Comes the Moon?
We’re still thinking about that, but either way we’re in for a ride. While recording always seems so simple (we just sing the songs into a microphone, right?), it’s after we take the plunge and begin attempting to represent the depth of what has been growing in our minds and hearts that we remember that album making is no small feat.
Nevertheless, we’re increasingly eager to release these new songs into the wide world. They are continuing to work their magic on us, and we wonder how they might affect you and other listeners.
Stay tuned – and in the meantime, mark your calendars to catch one of our upcoming shows, listed below. For starters, we’re looking forward to our noon concert on Thursday, August 1, when Clymer & Kurtz returns to the Staunton Public Library’s A Little Lunch Music.
Cheers,
Maria & Christopher
