Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day was extra special for us this year. Instead of chocolates, roses, or dinner reservations, we treated ourselves to an evening in Ranene and Joseph’s living room-turned-coffeehouse, complete with cluster seating, candlelight, and a lavish charcuterie board.

Friends and neighbors packed the room as we took the “stage” to sing about love in all its messy glory, from infatuation to exasperation, from loss to enduring affection. Later Ranene observed that it would have been helpful to have tissues placed around the room for the tearful moments. There was also laughter for sure, and plenty of sweet connections with the audience in between.

“You rummage around our brains and pull things out,” one listener told us afterward. “You get down to the meat of things, strip away the fluff. Your songs are couched in poetry, distilled to the marrow. It’s so real, and it’s beautiful.”

Thanks to Joseph, Ranene, and everyone who chose to spend Valentine’s Day with us!
