Two evenings in winter
We spent an “evening in winter” last weekend in the delightful company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based musicians Andrew Pauls, Sopa Sol (Daryl Snider and Frances Miller) and guest Wendi Sirat. After our respective sets, we converged on stage for three joint songs contributed by each. We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with these wonderful folks, and felt loved by the roomful of people who turned out to listen.
The next day we headed to North Elk Coffeehouse in North East, Maryland. The parish-hall-turned-cozy setting was intimate, its friendly vibe enhanced by the aroma of meatballs marinara, coffee, and the tang of homemade triple-berry pie. Clustered in twos and threes around candle-lit tables, the audience listened attentively to our show. We sang some of our old favorites but also a handful of brand new songs from our forthcoming album.
We’d been planning to travel home the next morning, but in light of an impending snowstorm we opted for a late-night return. Equipped with meatballs and other goodies the coffeehouse kitchen crew packed for us, we drove without stopping the three-and-a-half hours through the night home to our warm bed.
